THE LOOKBACK
8 Factoids To Get You Ready for Week 2

1) On Monday, Florida State was embarrassed by Boston College 28-13 in Tallahassee, and what followed was an internet manhunt. See, after Florida State lost to Georgia Tech back in Week 0, a fan tweeted out that he would _checks notes_ eat dog poop if the Noles lost to Boston College. (Yeah, it was definitely a choice.) Sure enough, the Internet came to collect its debt. The only issue is that the Twitter/X user (@321nole) deleted all his accounts. There has been no further update on the matter, but the pressure campaign continues.
@jackmacbarstool This is JOURNALISMING
2) We all saw the Brian Kelly meltdown after LSU’s loss to USC, and of course, the memes that followed. Well… it seems Kelly is trying to walk back much of what he said after the game. Kelly appeared on the Paul Finebaum Show to address it and… you be the judge. He tried a joke, too.

3) Alabama football made the best video of the week. Keep the tissues handy.

4) College football’s Week 1 featured some truly great performances. The AP announced that its Player of the Week was Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan after the monster performance he turned in against New Mexico. T-Mac had 10 receptions for 304 yards (a school record), and four touchdowns. Notably, McMillan edged out Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, who also logged a ridiculous stat line of 267 yards and 6 rushing touchdowns. McMillan has a strong case as the nation’s best receiver in 2024.

5) There is some next-level gamesmanship going on between rivals Western and Eastern Kentucky ahead of this week’s game. Western Kentucky is the home team and wanted to arrange a “white out,” but in order for the home team to wear white, both teams must agree to it. Naturally, EKU rejected the request, prompting this statement from WKU.

Is it petty? Yes, but that’s what rivalries are for! Here’s what Eastern Kentucky tweeted about their uniforms.

6) The featured matchup in Week 2 is No. 3 Texas squaring off against No. 10 Michigan in Ann Arbor. The Longhorns have a high-flying offense led by Quinn Ewers, who started his career at Ohio State when he enrolled in Columbus early in 2021, before transferring to Texas in 2022.
It turns out that old habits die hard. Ewers is still apparently using the preferred nomenclature to reference the Wolverines.

7) UCF is doing one of the coolest things you’ll see all year in college football. While paying a visit to the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando earlier this year, the Knights had patients color in a variety of team logos, which were then turned into helmet decals for use during the annual spring game. The response was overwhelming; hence the reason the Knights will be bringing them back this weekend for its home game against Sam Houston.
@solidverbal UCF's latest uniform update might be its best ever
8) FIU plays in its home opener this week against Central Michigan and, notably, it’ll be the first game ever played in “Pitbull Stadium.” Yes, that Pitbull, who swooped in with a $6 million sponsorship. As such, fans can get a commemorative pin to signify the inaugural game. The get-in price is only $9.
